Infant Swimming Resource’s Self-Rescue™ survival swimming program is a one-on-one 6-8 week course, scheduled 5 days per week, Monday through Friday, for 10 minutes each day.
Rollback to Float
Infants (6 months+) and young toddlers
Lessons for children as young as 6 months focus on teaching the child to roll onto their back to float, rest and breathe, and to be able to maintain this life-saving position until help arrives. Once the child is fully skilled they will practice ISR’s survival techniques fully clothed during lessons.

Swim-Rollback-Float
Young Toddlers
These students can swim to the steps or edge of the pool when they are nearby. When they are too far to swim and need a breath they roll onto their back to float, rest and breathe, and maintain this life-saving position until help arrives.

Swim-Float-Swim
Toddlers and Young Children
Lessons for older toddlers and children up to 6 years old focus on teaching the swim-float-swim survival sequence. Children learn to swim with their head down; roll onto their back to float, rest, and breathe; and roll back over to resume swimming until they reach the side of the pool, where they can either crawl out or stay until they can be rescued. Once the children are fully skilled they will practice ISR’s survival techniques fully clothed during lessons.

Clothing Lessons
Fully Skilled Students
In the last week of lessons, fully skilled students will complete check out skills for two days in clothing. On the first day of check out procedures, students wear long-sleeve and pants pajamas. On the following day, students wear winter clothes (pants, a winter coat, and shoes). Because 86% of children, who fall in the water, do so fully clothed, it is important for children to have experience with such a situation.
Refresher & Maintenance Lessons
Returning Students
Refresher lessons are designed to fine-tune your child’s existing ISR Self-Rescue™ skills to meet the demands of their growing bodies after a break in lessons. Previous Swim-Float-Swim students return to lessons for approximately 3-4 weeks. For previous Rollback-to-Float students refresher lessons take approximately 5-6 weeks.
Maintenance lessons are highly recommended for regular fine-tuning of your child's skills. These lessons are for fully skills students ready to swim on an as-needed basis. Most students return for a maintenance lesson every 1-2 weeks throughout the swim season to help maintain their skills.
